Lactation Counselling

Lactation is the process of secretion of milk from the mammary glands of the breast. Further, during breastfeeding require almost twice as much protein as pregnant or non-feeding women. Consuming a lot of protein can help you maximize the milk supply which could help the infant. Lactation is vital for both the child and the mother. Since the child is completely dependent, it will have health implications if anything affects the mother.

There are various benefits for the child because of breastfeeding:

  • It improves the immunity of the child; the colostrums plays a important role
  • It also enables children to avoid a host of diseases that strike later in life
  • The longer the mother breast feeds the better the health benefits

There are various benefits for the mother too:

  • Mothers who breastfeed are less likely to develop osteoporosis later in their life
  • They are able to lose the weight gained during pregnancy more easily
  • They also will have a lower risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer
